North Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto is located along Shattuck Avenue from Delaware to Rose Street, and along Vine from Shattuck to Walnut St.
The area lies just north of Downtown Berkeley and is accessible via Highway 80 from University Ave., and is walkable from the Downtown Berkeley and North Berkeley BART stations. AC Transit buses also serve the area. Parking is available on-street at meters and in the adjacent residential neighborhoods for two-hours.

North Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto is situated close to many cultural amenities and parks. Live Oak Park, just one block north of the commercial district offers a beautiful diversion with Codornices Creek, and hosts the annual Live Oak Park Fair and Himalayan Fair. It is also home to the Berkeley Art Center, a beautiful arts and crafts-style structure built in 1967 that has established itself as leading local gallery presenting the work of talented regional artists in diverse media. The Actors Ensemble of Berkeley and other theatrical groups stage plays at the Live Oak Park Theater. The Berkeley Rose Garden and UC Botanical Garden are also nearby.
The Jewish Community Center on Walnuts St. holds symposiums, movie nights, and hosts the Jewish Music Festival. On Cedar Street, the Hillside Club has a variety of events including author talks, plays, musical performances. The University of California campus, just southeast of the district, offers special events at Zellerbach Hall through Cal Performances, athletic events at multiple sports venues, and the Berkeley Art Museum.
Walking distance to the district in Downtown, the Berkeley Rep is a national leader in innovative theatre, The Jazz School presents local jazz groups in an intimate space and Freight and Salvage hosts bluegrass and americana greats.
